Seeing Stars for the month of April 2010

NEW MOON at 24 ARIES 27 minutes 10:29 pm AEST on 14t April

New Moons are great for timing change and revitalising life and when it occurs in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac, new beginnings are certainly enhanced.

A cardinal, fire sign Aries is known for its high energy and trail blazing pursuits. From the depths of the ocean we find our feet and are off and running; direction may not yet be clear but the motivation given by this warrior sign enhances the strength and gives the courage to venture into the unknown.

Aries is the ruler of the head in medical astrology and part of their work is knowing when to use logic and when to proceed from the emotions. The opposing sign of Libra, ruling the kidneys, whose function is to filter out impurities from the bloodstream before they cause problems in the body. By filtering out negative emotions and separating constructive emotions from destruction we can save ourselves from headaches, bumps and cuts and kidney related diseases.

What fears and phobias are sapping strength and will, holding us back from accepting leadership of our own bodies and lives? With the New Moon’s sextile to Neptune, planet of surrender and trust and also Chiron, who heals the self whilst healing others, we have a means of accepting what we can’t change but also having the faith that we can deal with those changes we do make.

The close inconjunct of Mars, ruler of this New Moon and Pluto, who goes retrograde on the 7th suggests a need to express anger appropriately and a difficulty in handling frustration. It is important to remember that force or intimidation should not be used to attain a goal but rather revise procedures using diplomacy and tact.

It is difficult to initiate new projects if still dwelling on past activities. It is also difficult to work cooperatively if getting into power struggles so perhaps a key to effectiveness is flexibility and adaptability and to be open to new methods and procedures.

FULL MOON at 8 degrees SCORPIO 07 minutes 10:18 pm AEST  28 April

The dance of the Sun and Moon reach its peak at Full Moon when the light is brought to the dark giving the opportunity of seeing and dealing with what we envisioned two weeks ago at the Aries New Moon. What needs to be dealt with before going any further?

The polarities of Scorpio and Taurus bring into focus material and physical desires. There may be considerable inertia before taking action or asserting ourselves this then allows tension to build and like a volcano erupts causing considerable destruction. The Aries principle is capable of self-sufficiency, the ability to forge a new path. The synthesis of Scorpio and Taurus requires us to let go of any procrastinating tendencies, that lowers self-esteem and by destroying that inertia forces us to redefine and remake our value system giving us a better chance of conquering our new vision.

There is a close conjunction of the Sun and Mercury in Taurus to this Full Moon that brings into focus the need for practical deliberation but this should not involve the “spinning of the wheels” which gives a lot of noise but no movement. Rather the thinking should be logical applied to the situation at hand and with the current retrograde movement of Mercury, delays and frustration can be expected. Mars adds to this picture so the temptation could be to forge ahead regardless without double-checking all the facts and figures. This is a good time to deliberate and mentally review previously held ideas and concepts not for grandstanding or pushing ahead with unthought out ideas or plans.

The trine to Pluto doesn’t necessarily lessen the load but it does give good powers of observation for those that have eyes to see and a lot of mental energy and strength for overcoming obstacles, so bear with it.

COSMOS

SUN
Sun moves into the fixed Earth sign of Taurus on the 20th and is the reaction that follows the action of the fire sign Aries. Here we see that action has to have a meaningful purpose, that energy is productive. Taurus is one of the four power signs of the zodiac, along with Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius and according to Rudhyar these fixed signs signify great moments in a year’s cycle when life operates definitely and creatively in terms of power and purpose.

MERCURY
Mercury goes retrograde on the 18th for a period of 3 weeks so is not really the best time for making important decisions or finalising anything that has a long term contract or commitment. Mercury rules a lot of seemingly inconsequential things in our daily lives so trouble can crop up from some unexpected quarters. Delays can be expected whether this be with care repairs, postponed deliveries and even machinery breakdowns.

VENUS
Venus moves from the sensual sign of Taurus into the more verbally oriented Gemini on the 25th so it should become a lot easier to be able to express ourselves although Gemini being the mutable sign it is what we think we want one day could change by the next. In any case the move to interact and socialise will be strong.

SATURN
Saturn continues its retrograde movement but now also changes sign from Libra to Virgo on the 8th. Although not a good time to start anything the focus is now lessened from relationship issues into a chance for developing a better plan as the last may have to undergo a postponement. The breaks may need applying so as to become more organised.

PLUTO
Pluto starts its once a year retrograde movement on the 7th which lasts till mid September so we can expect a few of our weak spots to be hit upon. As Pluto is retrograding through Capricorn issues may arise in regard to how we deal with or handle authority. It may also be in regard to authority figures in our lives including bosses, parents and even the law.

ARIES
The Sun makes its annual visit in your sign and we see the New Moon on the 14th in the sign of Aries as well. This can give a huge motivational influence and opportunity to rejuvenate your life. New Moons are fruitful for starting new ventures and can be used as a potent time for making wishes that stimulate new beginnings in our lives. With energy levels and motivation high go to it.

TAURUS
At the end of the month a change of focus has you coming out of the dark and into the light but until this time it will stand you in good stead to keep preparing step by step until you are happy in your own mind that all aspects have been covered to your liking. Full Moon in your relationship area on the 28th may bring things to a head and also clear the air.

GEMINI
Slow down a bit, you may find yourself a bit accident-prone at the moment so too the tendency to run off at the mouth. If you notice people are backing off a bit it is because you are touchy and irritable and they are afraid of setting you off. Mercury goes retrograde on the 18th so you will have about two weeks to go over what has been said and done and come up with ways to set it right.

CANCER
It is time to have a good hard look at yourself and where you are headed in life. What is stopping you from achieving your goals? If an opportunity arises that allows you to step forward and be counted, please take it. The responsibility may be more than you have previously experienced but it would not have been offered if you were not up to the task. Time for some progress in your life.

LEO
Diplomacy is not one of your strengths but is really something you need to start cultivating. Unless more adaptability and flexibility is used you will continue to have these power struggles with colleagues and superiors alike. There is no way all eventualities can be anticipated and obsessing about the outcome uses up energy that can be better employed.

VIRGO
Mercury in Taurus endows endurance and patience so put this to good use and finalise any projects that just need that final touch. Go over what you have accomplished with a fine toothcomb leaving no detail unturned. Do any fine-tuning before the 18th as Mercury begins its retrograde process and if things are not completed before then, delays and communication breakdowns can be expected.

LIBRA
When Venus teams up with Mercury and Pluto thoughts turn to love. Not just any sort of love but the deep and meaningful type. If you’re looking for commitment or permanency put it out there before the 18th as you don’t want things to misconstrue or be miscomprehended. Your loyalty and faithfulness has been noted but perhaps not mentioned. End of the month gives you more confidence to discuss ideas.

SCORPIO
Pluto begins its annual retrograde movement on the 7th allowing a 4 month period of retroflection to occur. You may find your thoughts go against the current flow of what is occurring around you and this is fine as you become aware of issues that have been taken for granted need a closer inspection or examination. A bit of soul searching may be required and a look at fundamental motivations.

SAGITTARIUS
Your tactlessness causes misunderstandings at the start of the month that will require a slice of humble pie before all is forgiven. Your generous nature and sense of humour gets you out of trouble but it would be better if you thought before you spoke. Experimental Uranus and restricting Saturn continue to oppose each other creating friction at home and on the job scene.

CAPRICORN
Always willing to accept responsibility and obligations you may be challenged this month to resist unfair burdens. Things may come to a head when you feel obliged to offer financial support when in reality you have to learn when not to interfere allowing others to learn from their own mistakes. Parental issues may also raise its head creating conflict at home.

AQUARIUS
You may have thought you understood the rules of the game and acted accordingly only to have found that you have lost out. This may be particularly the case if you have been struggling with legal issues over the past year or so. Finances come to the fore,
predominately those that are shared or concern others as in loans or payouts and these will need to be revisited.

PISCES
Your coping mechanisms may be challenged at the moment as you struggle with trying to stand up for yourself and your personal needs. Conflict is particularly wounding as it highlights your need to separate and gain the freedom that only independence will bring. All that was once solid is being stripped away so try not to avoid uncomfortable situations but rather use them as a bridge to move forward.
