In our southern hemisphere with the winter solstice, a climatic point in the annual cycle is reached. The wheel moves where the shortest day meets the longest night in an everlasting interplay, which is a continually renewed drama. The long wintry nights signal a period of hibernation where the importance is on a strong foundation that is able to support, nourish and generate a nurturing environment.

This is the essence of Cancer, the sign most associated with the yin, feminine principle and the importance of home and family. As the fourth sign of the zodiac it is where we need to establish a nourishing foundation to support us throughout our lives.
