Newcastle Hunters mauled by Bears in Basketball
In round 10 of the Waratah Australian Basketball League at the Newcastle Basketball Stadium the Norths Bears proved too strong for the Newcastle Hunters in both the men’s and women’s games.
The Bears men defeated Newcastle by 109 – 77. Allan Swyston top scored for the Hunters with 24 while Mathew Cook scored 13. Unfortunately for the Hunters, having only won one game so far, they sit at the bottom of the 12 team ladder. The Spiders are second so the result was not unexpected.
The Women’s game was much closer with the Bears prevailing over the Hunters by 81 to 64. For the Hunters Dimity Stewart top scored with 18 points while Katie-Rae Ebzery scored 14. The Hunters have won 4 games so far and sit in 6th spot while the Spiders women, similarly to the men, are second
